Along with government cases the SLP of ATGTA also set to be heard tomorrow by supreme court

Dec 13, 2017 : Along with the two cases of the state government making plea for one year’s extension of service for sacked teachers plus vacating of stay on recruitment of non-teaching staff , a special leave petition filed by all Tripura Graduate Teachers Association (ATGTA) on November 22 will come up for hearing tomorrow in the division bench of supreme court comprising justices Adarsh Kumar Goel and Udai Umesh Lalit. The post-graduate teachers also facing axe have become a party to the case along with the graduate teachers with separate application . All the cases have been bunched together and will be heard by the court.

A graduate teacher and spokesman of the ATGTA Gautam Acharjee said that the state government has also become a party to the SLP filed by the graduate teachers and the post graduate teachers . ‘A team of leading lawyers led by former solicitor general Mukul Rohtagi will fight the SLP on behalf of the graduate and post-graduate teachers’ said Acharjee. He said that , according to legal opinion, their cases had considerable merit as graduate teachers had joined service months before the RTE Act came into force while the post-graduate teachers had received offer of appointment by 18th August 2010 while they joined service latest by 26th August-three days after the RTE act came into effect. Acharjee said that their stand and fight in the supreme court had not political connotation. ‘We are merely trying to save our lives and livelihood ; there is no politics in this’ said Gautam Acharjee.
